QAA Board announces new ARLC member
QAA's Board has appointed Gary Warke MBE, Chief Executive, Hull College Group, as one of its representatives on the Access Recognition and Licensing Committee (ARLC), Mr Warke leads one of the largest and most successful providers of further and higher education colleges with 30,000 students across the country, and is in the top 30 of colleges for recruitment of Access to HE students.
He began his career in FE over 20 years ago as a lecturer in French and Business Studies becoming Deputy Chief Executive of Hull College Group in 2005 and CEO in 2013. Gary is a former part time inspector with Ofsted for Leadership and Management. Gary was awarded an MBE for services to education in June 2013. He is also a Board member of Hull and Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, Director of 157 Group, Director and Chair of HCUK Multi Academy Trust.
The ARLC is specialist committee that advises the Board so that it may fulful its responsibilities for policy relating to QAA's Access to HE responsibilities. The ARLC has responsibility for oversight of
QAA's Recognition Scheme, which is the regulatory framework through which Access to HE Diplomas and courses are recognised and regulated.
