Access to HE Conference 2013: degrees of maturity

Lakeside Conference Centre, Aston University, Birmingham

The theme of this year's Access to HE Conference is maturity: of the design and uses of the qualification; of the understanding that practitioners and higher education have of the qualification and how to work effectively with it to secure progression for Access to HE students; of the opportunities and challenges in a changing world for people wanting to achieve degrees or other higher level qualifications in their maturity.

The programme

During the day, keynote speakers will address core themes, while workshops showcase new ideas, advanced practice and innovative solutions developed by practitioners in both further and higher education.

Keynote sessions

  • The Access to HE Diploma evolves: the revised specification
  • Celebrating achievement: the QAA Access to HE Awards
  • Mature students as consumers of higher education: valued customers or a marginalised minority

Yesterday, today and tomorrow: statistics and data, and the stories they tell about Access to HE students

  • 'You have reached your destination' (1): The student experience
  • 'You have reached your destination' (2): The view from higher education
  • Access to HE and employability: a chemical solution
  • On mature reflection: Access to HE research
  • QAA Access to HE Awards winners showcase: the winning organisations tell their story
